the camaro diaries

Inspired by a childhood in Los Angeles,

with its suburbs stitched together by freeways, The Camaro Diaries is a forthcoming memoir, assembled from twenty stand alone essays. Each piece references a car, reflecting a relationship, experience or place in time.

The collection begins with weekend visits with her enigmatic father, as Julia, from the backseat of his Camaro, observes his behavior and tries to understand who this man is. We learn of his escape from Germany as a boy, we visit his bachelor apartment, attend an inappropriate movie, and years later, a therapy session that does not go terribly well.

Readers of The Camaro Diaries will experience the Jack in the Box drive-through in a Volkswagen beetle, a scary first date to a Steak House, a husband-initiated road rage accident and a turnpike breakdown while pregnant that inspires a love affair with a carpet salesman.
